Robert Bosch LLC seeks Sr Calibration Engineer (Multiple Positions) at its facility located at 38000 Hills Tech Dr, Farmington Hills, MI 48331. Perform calibration and validation of passenger car/light duty powertrain calibration functions for Internal Combustion Engine and Electric Vehicles through a combination of engine, chassis dynamometer, hardware in the loop, test track, and open road testing. Set-up the control system parameters and optimization according to engineering targets with respect to engine/vehicle emissions, fuel consumption or energy management, performance, drivability and diagnostics. Define and execute engine or vehicle tests needed to prove the functionality and robustness with delivery of the final data to the customer. Utilize advanced calibration tools to perform calibration and validation tasks (model optimization, data analytics, automation) (15%). Support technical discussions and presentations regarding calibration and behavior queries for responsible powertrain functions both internally and with customer, coordinate with key stakeholders and participate in meeting exchanges as required (5%). Ensure adherence to Process Library for calibration by conducting the regular dataset reviews, address System Specific Data deviations, and ensure timely delivery of calibration work products in coordination with calibration sub-project manager. Ensure additional calibration and support tasks as requested (10%). Support vehicle commissioning activities, perform the necessary checks of Bosch controllers. Provide remote or onsite support to customer and internal development teams, as required (10%). Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in the target application by extracting necessary information from Fuel Cell Controller Unit, Hydrogen Storage Control Unit, Inverter, Vehicle Control Module, Thermal Management Module, or Engine Control Unit (20%). Support the business acquisition activities, including effort estimations and technical work package descriptions for prospective projects and change requests (10%). Publish development reports upon task completion and individual test trip reports after the conclusion of the trip (10%). Participate in the local and international calibration network to share knowledge and stay up to date on the latest control system developments (10%). Mentor other team members in responsible work package, operation, tools, and methods (10%). REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Plus, 5 years of experience as a Calibration Engineer, Systems Engineer, or related occupation involved powertrain calibration. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Electrified and Internal Combustion Engine powertrain technologies and control strategies; (2) Measurement data acquisition and analysis tools and automotive SW/ HW tools and testing in closed loop environments such as ETAS, INCA, CANalyzer, MDA, vCDM, INCAFlow, DiagRA, jBEAM, or EATB; (3) Electronic Control Units and electromechanical systems; (4) Troubleshooting system issues related to Fuel Cell, Hydrogen Storage, Inverter, Vehicle Control Module, Thermal Management, and Engine Control; (5) Navigating software documentation using automotive SW tools such as EHANDBOOK, ASCET, or Simulink; and (6) Calibration Release Processes including Validation Tasks and Generation of Work Products. Telecommuting: Hybrid with 2-3 days in office. Up to 20% domestic and international travel is required.
